The training of journalists and offering them a wide range of opportunities to grow as media professionals, gain reporting experience, publish projects, and be recognised for impactful work are key part of our initiatives.
In the current year – 2022, we have trained 51 journalists in Nigeria under the “Strengthening Journalism: Independence, Capacity and Presence” (SJ:ICAP) Project being implemented by SMI as an intervention under the Collaborative Media Project of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism and supported by the MacArthur Foundation. Trainees cut across the print, online and broadcast media.
